On the weekend we had an Easter event at the Park. 
Students and their families were all invited to join in the fun. I think in total around 60 people turned up to the event. 
We at ate lunch together, played some Easter games and finally held a big Easter egg hunt for all the kids. 

We are on Spring holiday this week but look forward to seeing everyone early next week. Thank you for all coming along and making a wonderful day.

This week we made Easter egg baskets and coloured in eggs. 
今週は皆でイースターエッグを作ってもらっています。
Everyone did an amazing job. They turned out great!
皆綺麗に作ってくれました。

「日本語がまだちゃんと話せてないので、英語は日本語がしっかりしてから・・・」という声をよく聞きます。ですが、実際は大人になって母国語以外の言語を学ぶ場合とは違い、幼児の場合、2つの言語を同時に習得する際の学習量にはほぼ違いがなく負担になることはないということが研究によって証明されています。幼児期に母国語以外の言語を学ぶことは負担になるどころか、2言語の同時発達による相乗効果も期待できるとされています。

今日のキンダーガーテンでは手作り小麦粘土を作りました。
みんなとても楽しそうに粘土に食紅で色をつけて遊んでくれました。
小麦粘土の作り方は簡単で、万が一食べてしまっても安全です。

どのご家庭にでもある小麦粉、油、塩さえあればすぐ作れちゃいます。

皆さんも家で試してくださいね。

Today we made play dough in our kindergarten class. 
The kids had fun adding coloring to it and then we tried making different shapes. 
It's very easy to make. It's made with flour, salt, vegetable oil and water,
so it's safe if the  kids happen to eat a little.
Try making it at home with the family. Your kids will love it. 

キンダーガーテンのスーパーロングコースができました。
働くご両親に活用していただけると嬉しいです。
ロングコースを選ぶ方に限り、週１回(３,０００円)～選べます。
スーパーロングコースは９：００～１７：００までとなり、途中アフターキンダーガーテンコースと合同になります。

一日の内に繰り返し学習をするため早い上達が見込めます。

We have started a new Super Long Course for our Kindergarten Classes. 
We hope working parents will be able to make good use of these new longer classes. 
The new course will be from 9:00 to 5:00 weekdays. 
Feel free to contact us any time for more information regarding this new course. 

The weather was nice on Saturday so we all went to the park to play. 
Taking the kids to the park gives the students a chance to learn natural English they wouldn't normally learn in class. 
We talk about things along the way and have fun playing in English. 

Studying English is not all about just learning from text books.
英語はテキストを学ぶばかりではなく、
We can learn lots from the games we play too. 
ゲームを楽しみながら、英語をたくさん学べます。

貸し出しの絵本をさらに用意しました。

文字が少なく、絵ばかりの簡単に読める絵本なので、お家でお子さんに読んであげてください。

もちろん、難しい絵本の貸し出しも行っています。

今後もどんどん増やしていく予定ですのでご期待ください。

We have prepared some books for our students to borrow whenever they like. 
They are easy to read and have lots of pictures to help explain each page. So we hope you enjoy reading them with your children.  
We also have difficult books ready for those who are a bit more advanced. 
We plan to add books to the library during the year. We hope you enjoy them all. 

昨日、クリスマスパーティーを開きました。
クリスマスの歌を歌って、The Night Before Christmasという本を読み、
ケーキを食べたり、リースを作ったり、ボーリングや、雪玉入れゲームしたりしました。

リース作りは特に女の子に大好評で、みんな自分で作ったリースを可愛くできたと身に着けて楽しそうでした。
いつも授業で歌っている歌を大きい声で歌い、サンタクローズから何が欲しいかを聞きくと

皆もう決まっているようで、Ｉ want a ○○と、答えてくれました。

Ｓｔｅｌｌａｒサンタからのプレゼントはみんなのほしいものとは違うかもしれないけれどすごく喜んでくれました。

みんなとても良い子なので、本物のサンタさんから、ほしいものを貰えるはずだよ。
皆参加してくれて、ありがとう。また来年、皆に会うの楽しみにしています。
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

We held our end of year Christmas Party yesterday. 
During the party we did various things:
1. Asked each other what we want for Christmas.
2. Sang Christmas songs(that we had learned this month).
3. Read 'The Night Before Christmas' together and answer questions about it. 
4. Ate cake.
5. Made wreaths. 
6. Played games
7. Got presents and picked our own Candy Canes from the Christmas tree. 

Everyone, including myself, had a really good time. 
All our students have been good boys and girls this year, so I'm sure Santa is going to bring them what they asked for. 
Thank you all for coming and I'm looking forward to seeing you again next year. 
I hope everyone has very MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Last weekend  in our Saturday Kindergarten Class we painted a Christmas Tree. 
It turned out much better than I imagined. 
Over the next week or two our students will color in ornaments to decorate the tree. Then we will hang it up in the entrance of our school for everyone to see. We hope you like it. 
Christmas isn't far away now. Christmas for me is even more exciting than birthdays. 
Even at my age, the closer we get to Christmas the more excited I get. I can't wait. 

Saturday Kindergartenに通う生徒達にクリスマスツリーを塗ってもらいましました。
想像以上に上手に塗れました。
この後、オーナメントをつけて入口に飾る予定です。
クリスマスがだんだん近づいてきましたね。
僕にとってのクリスマスは誕生日より高い位置付けだったりします。
35の今の年になってもクリスマスが近づくとわくわくします。待ちきれないです。

Even though I have been in Japan for a long time, it has only been the last 2 or 3 years or so that I became interested in Sumo. I first got interested in it because my family was always watching it whenever I visited. One day while watching it I recognised one of the Sumo Wrestlers. I couldn't believe it. It was Masa!! 

He is a friend of mine who I met in Australia about 3 years ago.  We used to hang out, and go and watch Aussie Rules Football games together as we both cheered for the same team. At that time he wasn't so big. But over the last few years he has packed on the pounds. I'm surprised how big he has gotten in such a short time. 

After studying English in Australia he returned to Japan specifically to get into Professional Sumo Wrestling. He always talked about it and couldn't wait to get back into it.  At the moment he stays and trains at the Tokyo Sumo club and this year he reached Juryou level. Juryou is the first level at which you get paid to be a Professional Sumo Wrestler. I was amazed to see he had moved up through the ranks so quickly.  

The next Sumo Tournament has just started today. I think it's the last competition for the year and it last for 15 days. I'm looking forward to seeing how he does in November and the years to come. In the future I hope to get him to come and visit us here at Stellar. I'm sure the kids would love seeing a real life Sumo!

長い間日本で生活していますが、ここ２、３年僕は相撲が好きです。

好きになったのは、奥さんの家族が見ているから好きになったわけですがある日、いつもの様に相撲を見ていたら知っている顔がっ！

マサ君でした。

彼は、３年前オーストラリアに住んでいるときに仲良くなった友達です。

一緒に遊んだり、オーストラリアのフットボールを観戦しに行ったりしました。

彼は、オーストラリアで英語を勉強し、その後相撲をするために日本に帰って行きました。

がっちりした体系だったけど決して大きくはなかったはずなのに、筋肉質なお相撲さんらしい体系に変化していました。

彼は今年、十両レベルに上がり、給料(月収100万円以上)がもらえるれっきとした職業お相撲さんになったのです。

夢を本当の形にしたのです、すごいです！

今場所は、今日から始まりました、今年最後の場所です。

十両から幕の内にあがれるように、いつも応援しています。

いつか自分の学校に会いに来てもらえたらいいな。

子供たちがきっと喜ぶだろうから。

生徒に手伝ってもらってピニャータ、完成しました。
中にはたくさんのお菓子が入ってます。
子どもたちにボコボコ殴ってもらい、どんな姿になるのか楽しみです。うまくいくといいな。

We have finally finished the Pinata. 
It has been filled with lots of candy and is now ready to be destroyed!
I can't wait to see the kids try and smash it open at our Halloween Party this Saturday.

Have you ever heard of a Pinata? 

It's a game played in many countries and one I played when I was a child. The Pinata is a little similar to the Japanese Kusu-dama.
But it is full of toys and sweets, and instead of pulling a rope to open it, we use a bat or stick of some sort and hit it over and over until it opens. 

In other countries you can buy Pinatas from a shop(though many people do make them themselves) but I couldn't find them in Japan anywhere so I decided to make one myself. They are quite easy to make. You just need a big balloon which you use as the base for the shape, and then cover it with paper mache. Once it has dried you decorate and or paint it the way you like.

I have never made one before so if all goes well then I will put some pictures up of the finished product in my next blog.....that is if it does actually all go to plan......Wish me luck. 

I'm really looking forward to our Halloween Party. I hope everyone is as excited as me. It's going to be a lot of fun. 

皆さんピニャータって知っていますか？
僕は小さい頃にやったゲームなんですけど、簡単に言うと、日本のくす玉をスイカ割りの要領で子供たちが叩き割るゲームです。

割ると中からお菓子が降ってくるんです。

海外ではピニャータで使う入れ物(くす玉)を売っていますが、日本では見かけないため、手作りしてみようかと。

写真は風船のまわりに新聞紙を張り付けている状態のものです。

うまくいけば、この形のまま固まり、ペイントし、おかしを入れて・・・完成予定です。

うまくいけばですけどね。。。。（笑）
またうまくいったらブログにUPします。
